The next and decisive step is the medical commission, which lasts several weeks. If a person manages to pass through this „sieve“, he is admitted to the initial training course, a two-year general space training, according to the results of which the cosmonaut candidates pass exams, and they are awarded the qualification „test cosmonaut“.

From that moment on, a person is enrolled in the position of a test cosmonaut. At present, sooner or later, they try to put the test cosmonaut in the crew so that he can carry out his space flight and justify the funds that were invested in the process of his training. Unfortunately, there are many factors that can put you at a loss for your career. For example, an encephalitis tick bite is a lifelong disqualification from flying into space. And, unfortunately, there are a lot of such factors.

– When is the next set of astronauts planned?

– I can’t say for sure. Perhaps in 2017, but so far there are no final decisions on this issue. On average, recruitment takes place no more than two years later.

– Andrey Ivanovich, what is the daily 123helpme.me routine on the ISS, and how are things going with food, are there any unusual smells?

– The work and rest schedule is determined by the MCC, there is a daily work plan for each crew member. We live in Greenwich. The Russians are more fortunate in this regard than the Americans – the time shift between the ISS and the national mission control centers is less. Wake up at 6 o’clock in the morning, wash, have breakfast and begin each one to his work. Then lunch, work again. Dinner, preparation for tomorrow’s business. We have one hour of personal time, during which we try to communicate with families, answer letters. On Saturday and Sunday we hold teleconferences and conferences. We keep fit by exercising on simulators. It’s very fun to take pictures. It would seem that there is so much time (there is no need to spend on the way home and to work), but for all our stay in space we could not finish a collage of photos (a lot of work!). Lights out at 21.30. Of course, it is far from always possible to strictly follow the regime, this is natural.

There are over 500 products on board. These are freeze-dried products in special packaging, canned food. Almost everything is delicious, but you dream of barbecue! Sometimes fresh fruit is delivered to the ship with cargo. About smells. As an engineer, you won’t surprise me with anything, I’m used to everything. There are no unusual smells. Sometimes the question is asked whether there are interesting dreams in space. My dreams, as on earth, were very ordinary.

– What is weightlessness? What are the sensations?

– Zero gravity can be compared to the feeling when you drive a humpback bridge at high speed. It takes your breath away for a moment. Probably, each of you is familiar with this feeling. So, this feeling starts at the beginning of the flight and ends at the end!

– What did you experience upon landing?

– Embrace gravity! To be honest, I was afraid of those first minutes of landing, being on board the station. But, to my great surprise, I did not feel any difficulty in raising an arm or a leg. Apparently, the physical training that we carried out on on-board simulators affected. In the first minutes and hours there were problems with the vestibular apparatus. Such vestibular disorders are noted by all astronauts. The manifestation of the so-called seasickness is very strong. An unpleasant feeling. But after 2-3 hours everything returns to normal.

– Are there many emergency situations being worked out before the flight? Do you study American equipment before flying?

– Approximately 30 percent of the entire preparatory process is devoted to practicing actions in the event of emergency situations. First of all, those that pose a threat to the safety of the ship and the life of the crew. This is a fire, depressurization, leakage of toxic substances into the station’s atmosphere. Fortunately, we did not have anything like this in space. We have a division of responsibilities between astronauts and astronauts. Russian cosmonauts are trained as specialists in the Russian segment. For the American segment, we prepare in the user mode. We know how the system works normally, and we know how to handle it.

– Are flights to Mars, the Moon possible in the near future, or is it a fantasy?

– Today, there are serious obstacles to flying to Mars. We cannot yet implement it in a short period of time. Because of this, one of the main problems arises – the lack of protection of the crew from various cosmic radiation. You can launch a crew to Mars and return it back. But in the event of a solar flare or other „space weather“ troubles, not quite healthy people will fly to Mars. And therefore, now the date of the first flight is tied to the timing of the creation of the system of protection against cosmic radiation. If, for example, it is possible to create, for example, a nuclear high-thrust engine and a nuclear power plant that will ensure a flight to Mars within several weeks, then this will become possible without such protection. I think, and this is my personal opinion, that a flight to the moon will become possible in 10-15 years. Maybe someone from the military mech will lift a stone from the moon, everything happens in life!

– Have you met with unearthly civilizations?

– I am forced to give a standard answer: neither I nor my fellow cosmonauts have been in situations that could be characterized as a meeting with another civilization. If something happened, it was always completely scientifically explained. Although deep down, I believe that we are not alone in space and that sooner or later we will meet brothers in mind.

– You said that in order to fly into space, you need to answer the question why a person needs it. What did you answer to this?

– I was not asked such a question, because after the end of Voenmekh I purposefully went to this. For myself, I had an answer: having worked for many years as a specialist on the ground, I wanted to apply my knowledge, all the baggage that I had acquired at the Mission Control Center in space. It was a step forward. There was an attempt to realize a dream from childhood.

– What can you say about your upcoming flight?

– You know, astronauts are a little superstitious, we are afraid of unpleasant accidents that could prevent this, so I try not to talk about the flight in advance. And chances lie in wait at every step. For example, if your partner twisted his leg before the flight, then the entire crew will not fly, because the training was in this particular crew. I will only say that the flight is scheduled for September 28-29. Landing – January 24-25, it turns out a little less than six months. On board we will have to conduct about 45 experiments: technical, biomedical, scientific.

– What would you like to do after your next flight?

– I will wait for the next space flight! This is actually a serious question. The profession of an astronaut is associated with risk, a long absence from home, as I said. It is not easy for relatives to wait and worry about us, so you need to take into account the feelings of those who are next to you.

On April 8, 2017, a total literacy test was passed. The annual action „Total Dictation“ once again united all lovers of the Russian language in more than 800 cities around the world.

The editorial staff of the portal „Russian Education“, together with other volunteers, sat down at their desks today. How the Total Dictation action took place in Moscow in our report.

There was still half an hour before the start of the event, and in the auditoriums of the Moscow State Pedagogical University there was nowhere for an apple to fall, it was with difficulty that it was possible to find a free spot in the „gallery“.

“The venues throughout Moscow are designed for almost 30 thousand participants. If all the registered ones come, it will be twice as much compared to last year. In 2015, about 14,300 Muscovites wrote a dictation, ”said Maria Rovinskaya, the organizer of the action in Moscow.

Many did not come here to write Dictation alone. Couples in love, families with children and grandmothers and cheerful groups of friends are everywhere. Everyone is taking selfies every minute and vigorously discussing future grades.

“A guy brought me to Dictation. Surely, I will get a „two“, because I am a mathematician, „- says bank employee Anna Tyuleneva.

In 2017, the text of the Dictation was read by more than 200 stars of television, theater and cinema. In Moscow, showman and presenter Maxim Galkin, sports commentator Georgy Cherdantsev, Comedy club project participant Marina Kravets, director Mark Rozovsky, stylist Vlad Lisovets, saxophonist Igor Butman and other famous persons acted as dictators.

As an engineer, you won’t surprise me, you get used to everything The third condition is the requirement of the credentials committee for the absence of various offenses.
